Almost every time I work out in the yard, which is 4 or 5 days a week I get stung by a wasp, bee, or get a spider bite. I’m just used to it now. Too hot down here to work outside with long pants & long sleeved shirt. So they always seem to find me. I found that if you squeeze the bite real hard for the first few hours it gets the venom out & the swelling goes right down. You can actually see the venom coming out of the hole.

Yup---I agree with the squeezing of the Venom out as soon as possible.

Bearcarver Bearcarver I lived in Georgia, 30 minutes from Atlanta, for over a year. That is a whole new world of Ouch, compared to PA! I got bit or stung by stuff I've never seen till moving South. And I don't know how you Southern Boys put up with FIRE ANTS! I had mounds all over the yard...JJ

Hope the swelling has gone down now Dave!

I am fortunate and do not have allergies to stings.

good stuff!! yeah, my doc is aware of the issue. she has considered an epi-pen. while the reaction is bad, its consistent. if it ever got much worse I am sure between my wife and doc they would insist on the epi.

not what part of my diet would be making them come after me and not my wife, we eat all the same stuff. its the same with mosquitoes, I get bit and she does not...baffling
Just the opposite here, Sue gets bit all the time ...me hardly ever.

Man that sucks you swell up so bad, or get stung in the first place! Hope it gets better soon for ya. But on a lighter side of things...some of us get some crap for getting our feet in the pics, we just can't compete. I now have a visual of John @SmokinVOLfan in his flip flops...he would need a really big one for that left foot!

bees have been scarce this summer which is odd and sad. Normally we have tons of yellow jackets - so many we fill the traps more than once per summer.

Yesterday we were having morning coffee on the deck and the one bee seeks me out and sings my second toe. I get stung about once per year - my wife never does. and I have a horrible reaction - the sting area swells like its gonna explode, red hot itchy etc. here is my whole foot swelled up 24 hours after. cant bend my toes or see an ankle at this point. whatcha gonna due - it'll pass at some point. then there next summer. Usually when i see a bee/wasp close by a run around like a child flailing allover. people who dont know me just think im strange. but when this happens every time...I think it warranted.

I wish they would stick to pollen and flowers and leave me alone...i must have tasty bee attractant for blood.

Do you have Plantain weed out your way?

If you do pick a few and grind into a paste and plaster it over the sting. I will take the pain, itch and swelling away with it minutes.
Most people just use the leafs but the shoots with the seeds work just as well maybe even better.
You can pop a few leafs into your mouth and chew it up then plaster the sting with it....it works great.
