Here's one for ya . In the catagory of read your labels and pricing .Before the beef prices started to tick up one market had a Friday senior special on burger: 1.5 lb packages for $5. Their next move was to label 1 lb packages with the $5 tag.
Mentioned above that ground beef chubs were on sale , and I normally grab a whole chicken or turkey breast for slicing .
Well I went and bought 20 lbs. of ground beef , and also grabbed a whole oven roasted turkey breast to slice , that was Thursday . Got it out this morning and got ready to slice it , and was just reveiwing the lable before I opened it .
Sell by 10/7 . I always look at that before I buy , but was just checking again .
Something looked strange , so I got to picking at the corner of the label .
Hmmm,,, This was underneath .
Anyway , it was relabeled for a price increase , but they got the sell by date wrong .
That's not a freshness date , but 12 days past that and not even opened is a no go .
Took it back up there , and he replaced it no issue . He also showed me the stamp on the package that they go by . That over rides any mis-labeling .
Pay attention to what you're buying . Especially package weights , because they're shrinking .
