Beef Cost is Unreal!

Saw this in Costco the other day. And this is the price for Choice.
I'm more surprised by the short packed to sell by date . Normal for beef is 35 to 40 days from the pack date . Must be a Costco thing . Brisket is currently $5.49 here . 2 Bucks higher than normal price .
I bet it's been 2 years since I bought one . I won't do it .

Just got an email from US Foods Chef Store (formerly Cash & Carry), that they have a whole boneless top inside round for $4.49 lb., 23.33 lbs average. At least that's the price in my area, but we're typically more expensive than elsewhere. Could be some inexpensive ground beef there.

I'd say that's a good price for todays world .
I did a small bottom round on the WSM yesterday . Makes great slice roast beef .
So don't grind it all .

Just pulled a bottom round out of the freezer for a weekend smoke. Since last week was the $2.99/lb rib sale this week it's the top rounds for $4.99/lb, if this rotation keeps going I'm going to continue to keep the freezer(s) topped off.

I’ve been seeming news reports that beef prices have been coming down………

So then was at Sam’s Club in the big town and to my shock prices have come way down…..

I picked up these prime ribeyes for 18.98/lb……3 weeks ago the same steaks were approaching 34/lb….these prices for prime are like the way back prices……. I hope the downward trend is here to stay!

They just went in the garage fridge for the night after getting dusted with some corse salt! I’m excited!

Shopped at Costco Business Center a few days ago. No screaming deals there. Also no tri-tip (not that I'm looking for it as the quality has really dropped).
Didn't check out the Winn-Dixie offerings this weekend.
Another great weekend beef deal at the local Savealot
Recently located a Savealot store not too far away. Will start checking the sale flyer.
I see they list most meat as no roll meaning not graded, just inspected.
How is the quality, Jeff?

Yep. Publix here in GA has whole bottom rounds for $3.99/lb. I picked up 2 today to smoke for deli style meat.
Don't shop for meat at Publix anymore. Wife cannot eat the ground beef so her mind has translated to all Publix meat.

Quality varies but usually you can sort through the family packs and find nicely marbled ones. Another nice thing is,they cut in store so you can get custom cuts during the day when they are in.
