Bear Attack

I forgot about this one when I posted my other Bear pictures.

I figured you'd all get a kick out of these pictures.

This is one of my lesser ( one of my first cubs) Black Bear Cubs, mounted in a tree, in Potter County, PA. He has been attacked at least 4 or 5 times by real Black Bears, but usually at night. He has been patched up a number of times, by the Buddy of mine who owns him. He has deep claw marks in both shoulders & back, a 1/2" deep fang mark on his butt, and both heels are chewed up. Good thing I carved him out of Poplar, instead of my usual Pine. Below was a day time attack, while my Buddy was home. He took the pics, and he couldn't wait to show them to me.

Great picture! My grandparents used to make concrete lawn ornaments and people would bring in pictures of deer interacting with the life size concrete deer. Anything from attacking them to falling in love.......lol

Great shots, Bear.  Years ago we lived in the Northern New Mexico mountains, where there is a large bear population.  I have old photos of bears in the back of our truck, and getting into our trash (which we learned to secure better afterwards).  One night two of the bears that were regular visitors even tore the door off a locked storage shed to get to some dog food and horse feed we had stored inside.  We loved those bears, but they could often be a nuisance.

Bear that's a great photo your friend caught.  Reminds me of several I've caught of guard standing on their haunches doing things we'd never think they could do!

That Buddy of mine who took those pics was here the other day. He told me he & his Dad were sitting in his log cabin, and they heard a noise out back. They got up & went to the back door. Barry looked through the peep hole in the door, but it was dark, so he told his Dad to turn the back porch light on. His Dad replied, "It is on!!" ----------------The bear was standing on his hind legs, against the door!!!!

This is SO incredible and should be a You Tube video or advertisement for your fabulous and incredibly fine art, Bear!

Not only is the chase and concept so wild, but your great God given talent, is just magnificent!

I've only "cut apart" or carved a fatty shoulder roast of bear, from time to time. (And sliced that for the grill). I cannot even fathom somebody so artfully "going in" and with wood, as you so masterfully do!

Your bears are incredible! Your food is incredible! And seeing bears running up trees in pursuit of your fantastic and clever statues, is a Friday finest!
