What size guru fan do I need for a UDS that has a 3 ft piece of pipe coming up with the ball valve on top? It recommends a pit viper 10 but that is for UDS without the extra pipe. Should I get the pit viper 25 or will the 10 push enough air down the pipe? Here's a link to a picture of drum and to the pipe I am referring to.

I use a 10 on my WSM..

I use it at half open..never all the way open..

A 10 should work just fine.

I use this fan on my UDS:

I bought a bigger one because people were talking about needing more air flow for a UDS.  This thing is way too big!  I have to limit it to 50% max speed because it blows so much air that it cools off the UDS.  I figure if I let it go it'd hit 600+F easy.

I hook it up to my UDS via a 1-1/2" pipe though a ball valve and in addition to speed limiting I have the ball valve only open <1/4".

So I would suspect a 10cfm would be plenty even with the extended pipe.

Gonna give this guru a test this morning. We had a AC condenser break in our garage sending water all under the wall into our dining room ruining the floor, so my wife's best friend is dating a guy that lays wood flooring so he's coming over to lay the floor and I'm paying him in brisket and pulled pork... Gotta love that, flooring laid for $50 bucks in meat :)
