Bad A** BBQ WEEKEND (day 1)

ok smellers,

this weekend is gonna be fun. today i'm smoking some stuff for my father in-law (he's never had my Que). tomorrow i've got a friendly competition with a friend (forum member fuast) and his dad (a long time smoker).

today's smoke = a rack of spares and a lion. Qview will be on going.

uh...that's the plan. unfortunately the cook-off is @ 2 pm. i was gonna make MY pulled pork, but i'm not gonna be able to get up @ 1 or 2 am to do the butts, so it was turned in to a "rib-off". my buddy (forum member: Faust) don't do pork butts and mine is WAY better than the old timer's. That i would have won for sure. i don't know if there is a prize or if it's just braggin' rights, but either way...i wanna bring tears to peoples eyes.

since the smoke today is for my father in-law, i will not be able to show smoke rings. i will have 2 more pics comin' up though. 1 = after wrap and 2 = finish.

heads up for tomorrows smoke. (2x Spare Ribs & 1x Baby Backs)

here they are after the wrap. notice how the fat cap on the loin melted and a slight bump took the rub off. that is actually a divet.




oh and i finally put my little Que "snacks" on since this Que is not for me. had to have alittle taste, DANG!

Glad i checked when I did as things were resting in the cooler...now not much longer until I get to witness the grand finale of day 1 smoke.

Everything looks great while they are in the cooler. Nice color and pull back. Good luck with the contest but you always have to watch out for us old timers. We have been around and likely have something up our sleeves.

GREAT NEWS! My father in law is gonna bring the Que to a "house warming early-bird dinner" @ my sister in-laws! so, i will be able to get smoke ring pics. score.

well contest is tomorrow and on the ribs...i'm sure i'm gonna get pwnt (as the kiddos say). my buddy's dad is the one that introduced me to "carolina style" pulled pork sammies. I must repeat what forum member Faust (old timer's son) told me.

"Dude! That is the best pulled pork sammie i've ever had! My dad would be very jealous."

ribs however...i've still go quite a few things to learn.
