I looked up the "preferred" variety and cant seem to find them in these parts. At least they are labeled as such.

Are these pickling cucs? And or will they work?

No. Not pickling cukes. I'll buy them over the winter to cure the itch. If you get them. Make sure you get the firmest you can find. Trim the ends. And soak in ice water for a hour before pickling. And you'll need pickle crisp for these. Trust me.

Hmm, do you find pickling cucumbers at the grocery? Are they seasonal? I havent ever specifically looked for them, but I also have zero recollection of seeing them out this way.

Pickling cukes are seasonal. At least up this way. If I can find normal garden cukes as small as possible. Then I'll use them. Not English though. Boston, national, and kirby's are my favorites. Sometimes Wegmans will have some Kirby's. And I'll grab what the have. Walmart sometimes have fresh salad/pickling cukes.
