Anyone use auberins plug n play model with 220 VAC

Just curios if anyone has used one of auberins plug n play models with 220 VAC, The spec sheet says you can. The unit comes with standard 120 VAC plug and receptacle. All 220 VAC stuff Ive ever seen uses different plugs. I know if i build my own I can just wire it up like i want, but I really dont want the hassle with cutting the holes and everything in the mounting case, would like to get one ready to go.

Just got off phone with tech support at auberins, tech told me I just need to pop off the top and change out the plug, unit is universal for 100-240 vac.

The first unit I bought blew the 20A fuse on just 120v. It was kind of a hassle getting it replaced, so I've been skittish about trying it out on 220v.

how did the conversion go? I just got my duel probe this week and want to do the same., run it with 220v.

does the plate go back on?

Pretty smooth. I decided not to buy the "international plug" I just rewired the inside of the unit. I removed the 14/2 cord that came with the unit, and replaced it with 14/3. I wired the actual pid back up to 120vac, and rewired the triac mounted inside for 240vac. I kept the "smoke generator" plug at 120 also, but I wont be using it. My controller will be used just for my smoker, but you will need to note, or mark the rewired output so that someone else does not plug a regular nema 5-15 (120vac) plug into it, because it will blow what ever you plug into it most likely. Mine is mounted permanently to my smoker, so I wont have to worry about it. The 14/2  cord that came with the unit runs (1) 120vac leg and and a neutral & ground into the unit, the 14/3 runs (2) 120 legs-giving you 240vac a neutral and ground into unit. There is not SSR inside like the one you would buy off the web site, but the the guts are the same. The opto isolator is actually mounted on the control board and the triac mounted separate. The triac is rated at 25 amps, #14 wire is good for 15A, my 2400watt element only draws approx 11 A. So I'm good. Not sure how the other guy blew his 20a fuse, must have done something wrong. Also the triac in side is good up to 247 degrees Fahrenheit with out a bigger heat sink or fan, Mine unit never got over 80 degrees. Ive used her five times now, all between 8 & 10 hour smokes. If your not handy with soldering small wires etc I wouldnt try it, Ive been working on big screen tvs and the like for over 15 yrs so it was like tying my shoes. Also I did half to modiy the back panel, drill out holes bigger..

Yes back plate did go back on fine, Im busy know, but i will try to upload couple of pics tomorrow after work. This controller looks dam good and mine worked great. It never did go over 1 degree to what i had it set for. well worth the money in my opinion.

If you mean by simply plugging it into a 8', 12/3 extension cord at 120v for the first time, and starting on the programming as something wrong, then yeah, I guess so. No, the unit was defective from the get-go. The replacement Auberin sent me has worked fine for two years.

BTW, those little 20A fuses are a bugger to find. I'd look around at Auberin or wherever and buy a few, just in case.
