Yumm Steve. That was the SoS I grew up. I'm surprised my WWII veteran father would enjoy it too. He said the Army serving was OK and definitely no dried beef..

Looks fantastic! Only 6 tablespoons of flour, eh? And just milk, not cream.
I could eat that over simple toast and make things real easy. But I'm with you: it needs lots of black pepper!
