brisket and baby back ribs, with some beans. wife is making a big greek salad, pasta salad, potato salad, and a fruit bowl. have quite a few people coming over the fourth for my city's big fireworks celebration, you can watch it from the house. drinks flowing, good eats, good friends, lots of laughs.

Ill be at work 6am til noon then im doing a town wide standby for the fire dept. Prolly cook up some pork butt the day before for the guys at the dept and also be doing a cook out with some steak and sausage the day off. Then we usually head to some spot to sit up on top of the engines and watch fireworks.
Know the feeling bud. I'm usually on the other side of the radio on 4th of July. This is my first one off work in about 12 years. Stay safe and thanks.

I love doing the standby for the 4th. When we do it around here, its a mix of guys from all the different volunteer companies getting together to form one unit instead of one company doing it themselves. Its good fun, we always have a cookout and drive around and stop when we see kids and show them the engines.

Sounds awesome.

It is. Last year it was real quiet. Just an ems call and car accident that involved a friend of mine. It was pretty bad but people in both vehicles were fine, just shaken up
