Every year it's the same; sitting inside looking out the window, like an indoor kitty, waiting for the pollen season to go away, I got the allergies real bad in April/May, can barely go outside let alone driving down the road with the windows down on a beautiful spring day.

Store sales have been going crazy, got a strip steak roast I've been dying to smoke, as well, spiral sliced ham, boneless skinless chicken thighs, racks of St. Louis ribs, and a few pounds of brats, the freezer is sure filling up fast. saw a 12 lb pork shoulder on sale last week for dirt cheap. had to pass since I'm getting back logged.

Soon enough it'll all be done for another year, and I'll be back in the pit making more goodies.

That's too bad Man!

I'm one of the lucky ones, no allergies!

I bet you smoke up a storm when the pollen goes away!

ristau I also get hit with allergies this time of year. Had them most of my life but they are not as bad now as when I was a kid. At this point I don't let it stop me from smoking, I won't stay out the whole time but keep a close eye on things from the window. Usually works for me. Maybe you can get by doing the same thing or use some allergy medicine. It stinks not being able to do things because of a bunch of pollen! Hope you can get by one way or the other and not feel too bad.

Dang it,,, That sucks,, when you get back to the pit, just remember

" A full smoker is a happy smoker"

yeah, take the allergy meds, problem is that it doesn't solve the issue, just kicks it down a few notches, but still have the issues.

I took a forced break this spring due to moving.

Allergies are prevalent for me in the winter months, more so molds, mildew, etc. Here in the Santa Cruz mountains, spring, summer and fall is a nightmare for many who choose to live here.

Now if I can find all my smoking gadgets and toys, I'll be having much more fun around the smoker this summer.

I really feel bad for you all that have the allergy thing.

I personally have been blessed with little or no allergies.

That's got to suck when you've got 'em so bad you can't

even go outside at all.

Sorry to hear about your allergies, I have them too but not severe. Claritin d and atrovent are my best friends in the fall.

I also have to take a pass at smoking beef and pork. I'm having gallbladder problems and I have to be on a low fat, no fried food, and no dairy diet until I can get it removed. I hope to do it before Memorial Day. I too have a freezer full of meat.

I hope you feel better soon, and make sure you drink a lot of water.

I'm one of the lucky ones who never dealt with allergies, but I have friends and co-workers who do.
Rain, rain and rain are delaying my smoking instead. Totally understand the freezer thing. Just saw a whole loin at GFS this afternoon for $14.95 and had to pass it up because I had nowhere left to put it!
Winds will blow and in a couple of weeks you should be good to go!
Hang in there and make plans!

The gallbladder thing is a whole other thread.  I had mine out a few years ago, just got to take it really nice and slow with the food that you are used to eating. reintroducing in very small amounts and increasing slowly over time. be careful, don't go crazy and you should be back to eating everything you normally ate when you had a good gallbladder. That's the path I took, and it worked out very well for me. Though it took me like 3 years before a dared to eat an egg.

Buy a respirator w/ 5 micron hepa filters   filters should catch all the pollen

Thank you very much! Feel better soon!

Find a local honey seller and buy a jar a two. Then eat a spoonful daily! Your immune system will start to go to work.
