Very cheap and no contract.

We are losing our free account from Sprint since Carol is no longer working there.

Verizon wouls cost twice as much as this. It also uses the Verizon network.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

We have something like that here in Fla. It's a metro mobile and it's like that to I think it's 40.00 a month and unlimited long distance and unlimited air time. My son had it before he moved and I don't know of any problems with the service or anything like thats.

Ron,
My wife and I don't talk that much on the cell, we still have our land line phone thru AT&T due to DSL, (which I'm considering changing after we move)

But just considering cell phone, we use prepaid. so far the cheapest I have found is: Locus Platinum, here is the rates.

• If you average more than 500 minutes a month then this is NOT for you.

THESE RATES ARE NOT FROM LOCUS DIRECT, WE BUY FROM ECALLPLUS

So here is what we did, the first time we both loaded up the 2000 minutes, at $25 per month, when the 4 months expired we went $50 and 833 minutes. The minutes roll over.
2 phones x $100 = $200 4 months
2 phones x $50 = $100 3 months
2 phones x $50 = $100 3 months
2 phones x $50 = $100 3 months
-----------------
$500 13 months or $38.46 per month for 2 phones or 19.23 per phone a month .
• You have to buy your own phone... I bought phones on ebay for $75 ea. brand new. Verizon sold the same phone 2 years ago for $125 with new plan.
• If you own a CDMA phone it can be setup. You will have to make a call. Locus Platinum tried to tell me the phone I bought was not in their system. The key is to call Verizon and find out if the phone works on Verizon's prepaid system. Almost every phone that works on Verizon works on Locus, you just have to get the right person to help you. I set my phone and wifes up with one phone call to locus. We bought the exact same phone for daughter 3 months later and it took 3 calls to connect to right person to get it setup.

Don't forget to renew before time expires or you lose those roll over minutes. We have been doing this for about 4 years. Our previous plan was even cheaper because even though we paid for time, they didn't enforce the expiration, so on my wifes phone for 2 years it cost about $200, she never uses her phone.

The above uses Verizon's network. You can text, but there is no other frills, no internet, no email. This is as basic as you can get it.

If money is tight that month and you have to renew, then do the $10 (this only makes sense if you have a lot of carry over minutes).
