100 units = $950 + $180 tooling/mold charge with a 35 day lead time. It would take a fair number of MAK users to make that palatable, i.e. enough buyers to cover the initial purchase. Now thats a great observation. Considering there are many on this forum who have the MAK grill and are facing or perhaps will later have this same problem getting a group buy going and fixing what needs fixin or stocking up on a spare part like an ignitor that will fail at some point as a spare. I'd take a couple myself at this point.
Could be a good return on your investment! Buy them for $ 10 plus shipping costs... sell on the lower end of price mentioned earlier around $45. Would maybe take some time though100 units = $950 + $180 tooling/mold charge with a 35 day lead time. Well I guess that idea doesn't want to float in this pool of water. Thanks100 units = $950 + $180 tooling/mold charge with a 35 day lead time. It would take a fair number of MAK users to make that palatable, i.e. enough buyers to cover the initial purchase.
FYI MAKMy ignitor has failed and didn't know that MAK Grills had closed down. I'm hoping someone here may know of a source to turn to for replacement of the ignitor. Why OH why did the ignitor need to be proprietary? A meaningful thank you to anyone that can point me in the right direction.
What about buying a new firepot/igniter combo that is readily available and retro it into your MAK?I'm not giving up but I think I see the writing on the wall. Thus I think I'll start looking for a replacement that fits my families needs. In the mean time what do I do with the MAK if I can't fix it? One thought was to remove all working parts and sell them then use the carcass for cold smoker ( but I already have two small dedicated smokers ). Just junk the whole mess and move on. Or ask here for ideas on what you would do with a broken grill and can't fix it. Dang this isn"t that easy as we really hoped to get many more years of service from the MAK.I really appreciate all the feedback on sourcing an ignitor. This forum is top of the heap IMHO.
Interesting thought. I've look at several but was simply looking for a direct replacement. I do some research and see what might work. ThanksWhat about buying a new firepot/igniter combo that is readily available and retro it into your MAK?
Don't give up so easy . and no , don't sell it for parts . Let the frustration go away then decide .In the mean time what do I do with the MAK if I can't fix it?
If that ignighter is a proven part that works , it's a no brainer to buy the lot and sell off what you don't want to keep .Well I guess that idea doesn't want to float in this pool of water.
That sounds like a good avenue to explore. What about buying a new firepot/igniter combo that is readily available and retro it into your MAK?
My thoughts as well . I saw an auction for Mak Metals selling off equipment , but didn't see any parts being auctioned off . I did see some parts being bought by employees , but just something I read .The MAK closure is still pretty new.
