Good morning everyone.

I love to read and love to cook (duh). I got some great BBQ books for Father's Day, and now I'm looking for a few more to get me through the summer. I am looking for books strictly about smoking (recipes, techniques, etc)., not grilling i.e. Weber-centric.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

don't have any suggestions i haven't read a smoking book since i joined smf, so many different recipes here i don't think i have enough years left to try them all. but i'm sure someone will be around with suggestions.

Aaron's book tells his story, his history, how he ended up where he is, exactly how and why he does the things he does, and has many of his recipes. It's a good read with some humor along the way.

Meathead's book goes into the actual science of smoking and grilling. The chemical changes that take place to create good food. He has recipes in there, as well.

Edit - These books are not just recipe books, plenty of great recipes on here

The only book I have that's dedicated to smoking is Franklin's that GonnaSmoke mentioned. I've used his method for brisket since I got it.
Also interesting reading about how he got started, etc.

I read Franklin's book and loved it, a good story with some great recipes and info included. My wife got me a few book by Myron Mixon. The moment I reached the part where he stated he smokes prime rib to a IT of 155º I put it down and didn't want to read the others. RAY

Meat Smoking And Smokehouse Design
By: Stanley, Adam, and Robert Marianski

This book tells you everything about curing, brining, building recipes, bbq, and how to build cookers and smokehouses.

I have Jeff's book and Meathead's book both are great. You can search for them by ISBN number on Amazon. (Links here get suppressed)

Jeff's:
ISBN # 1770500383

Meathead's:
ISBN # 054401846X

I have one of Myron's books. You need to be able to get over his massive ego in order to enjoy the book. I found his methods exhausting. I like his recipes, but not his methods of smoking. He loves to use pans and is constantly removing food from the smoker. That works well for him in competitions, but I don't see the need to do this. One book from this guy is enough for me.

Yup. He likes to brag. Myron's was the first book I got because I saw the BBQ Pitmasters tv show several years ago.
Did I tell you he likes to brag? I liked that show and it was what got me interested in low and slow BBQ.
Oh, and don't forget, he likes to brag.
After that my wife bought me a MES for Christmas and I got hooked. That's when I picked up Myron's book.
But, to be sure, he likes to brag.

I think the guy is hilarious and it's mostly showmanship. I agree with you on his methods and one book but he got me hooked on injecting. His pork injection is incredible.

As mentioned Jeff's book is a must as well as his recipes. The sauce is legit pro grade and rubs great too. His Texas rub is what really kicked my game up and opened my eyes.

I think Jeff's book is the first book I bought. I used his 2-2-1 ribs method is it literally were THE BEST RIBS I have ever had in my entire life - either at home or at any roadside/truck/restaurant. My family went nuts when I served them. Next, I want to try his brisket ideas. I am also looking to step up my chicken breast game; been having trouble. They are coming out too dry.

Sometimes you don't find all the answers in books and you gotta just try stuff. IMO chicken breast MUST be brined and also HOT smoked (think wood fired grill). I just made some of the best chicken breasts I ever had/made. While my previous breast attempts were not dry, they fell short and ultimately I think there were oversmoked. https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/another-jerk-fail.307625/post-2218695

WOW! They look amazing! Thanks for the link. I love jerk. My wife though is a bit averse to too much spice, so I might need to tap down the heat a bit. As for the rub, did you use Helen's Tropical-Exotics Jerk Seasoning or your own?
