Big Jake and I felt like giving back to the men and women who work hard every day to keep law and order. The paychecks may be steady, but the appreciation and recognition for those who serve aren’t always as forthcoming. Sometimes it’s just nice to let them know their service is seen and appreciated.

We cooked for the staff of the district attorney office, probation department, sheriff’s department and court.
Tri-tip, chicken, sausage, beans and salad was served

It was a nice turn out. Forgot there was garlic bread too but no pics. Since it was a solo cook sorry

The weather was great and the mountain setting awesome. The employees really appreciated and enjoyed the food. Big Jake was an hit and we were asked to cook for a car club event and a couple other venues as a result.

Looks amazing and a great way to thank them! Too many people don’t show them the respect they deserve, because they never stop to think what it would be like without them!

That's awesome...

How did you coordinate it... Let them all know in advancw you would be doing it and where ? Did in a certain place and they came to you or you made single dishes and delivered ??
Interested in the logistics of it all...

I met one of the department heads and explained what I wanted to do and asked if he was ok with that. And also asked if I could cook on site. His staff provided the location and assisted with emailing and personallyinviting the other agencies. I didn’t need to do any flyers or advertising.
I brought the smoker and tables and benches for people to sit on. The tough part was I really had no idea how many would show up and it was self funded so I was hoping I didn’t buy too much food. Turns out it was perfect.
I cooked everything on site and employees came to me during their lunch break.
Something I noticed. The sausage and chicken was the first to run out. It’s a lot of work doing a cook like this solo. 2 people would be or a lot better. Slicing and staging food for buffet style was tough by myself.

Heck yeah man! Good on you for giving back. I like the cover on big jake, is that new?
Thanks. No the cover was built at the same time. It is handy though.
