It's a long time forgotten...past life. After reading about flavoring with smoked salt, I remember building stainless screens in wooden frames just to do salt..think the ex sold them..lol Also remember the "don't use reactive material" clause and what happened to aluminium screen.
Been thinking of doing this myself. We just replaced our splatter screens with some very nice ones from Costco, and when looking at the 3 old ones my wife was about to throw away, I said, I'll just put them in the garage, I'm sure I'll find a use for them. Then 2 days later I find this thread!
Did u find that one held smoke flavor better than the other. My trial is one pound of sea salt and same of peppercorns. Gonna put a simple mix in some trial bottles for some guys at work. Thinking sea salt and smoked paprika with garlic n onion for them to help me experiment with.
Did a small batch of peppercorns and sea salt. Used Todds Hickory pellets in the AMNPT used two full tubes. Mixed up same rub i use on brisket. Wow.. Awesome
