I will ask this first. AM I the only one who can't figure this thing out? Done a test run yesterday, burned app one and a half rows then went out. Well that will get me app 5 hours of smoke. At 6:00pm I threw two pork butts on and went thru the rountine of getting the pellet smoker ready, all went fine for 1 row then out and could never get it to stay lit again. I got app 5 hours of smoke. I am really upset with this thing and thinking of returning. It is not set it and forget it, more work then adding chips every 15 to 20 mins. I will accept any and all ideas.

What type of smoker are you using it in?

Is it in an area that maybe moisture is dripping onto that spot and putting it out?
Is there enough O2 getting to it to stay lit?

I am using it in the new model 40 MES. No tent due to the drip tray covers it, no added moisture, only what the meats brings. I checked for grease moisture this am and there was none. I have the chip tray and load loaded pulled app 2 inches. I am starting to think that the MES cold smoker kit would due me better.

Before you send back or spend anymore money. Contact Todd he has amazing customer service and will work with you to trouble shoot your situation. It may be something simple.

I have read everything that I can. Been out messing with the MES. Now I am wonderinng where 1 1/2 inches are on the chip loader? You can measure from the part that reast againest the MES wall. or pull it out till you see the actally loading part and measure from there. So where is 1 1/2 inches? just looking for advice?

On our MES at work there is a ring that seals the loader. I would figure from the time that it clears the smoker I would count from there.

I actually just take my loader the whole way out and you can use a fridge magnet to block it off some if you really want to  but I don't see a need for the chip loader
Now that is an idea. You are usinng Amazn pellet smoker/

Are you using water in the water pan?

What's your elevation?

Chip pan out 1 1/2"

Chip loader out 2"

Exhaust 100% open

In the garage or outside?

Any wind?

Which pellets?

What ever Creosote says he is the owner of the company...I'm a new AMZNPS owner,  You need a bit of air flow and minimal moisture.

No water in the pan....

Chip pan out 1 1/2" (airflow related to the chip loader tip)

Chip loader out 2" (air flow right?)

Exhaust 100% open (air flow)  (reduces moisture inside your smoker)

In the garage or outside? (air flow)

Any wind? (air flow)

Which pellets?  (Some hold more moisture than others).

Low moisture and decent air flow....that's the key.

Mine went out earlier and water in the pan was the main culprit I think.  Using mesquite.

In case anyone else has this issue I thought I'd share that I've been having trouble keeping my pellets lighted and finally figured out the meat drippings were putting it out.  I've made a tin foil tent to perch over them and that seems to be working well.

Most of the time, it's a simple fix

Glad everyone is back on track!

Well I got the same problem . It won't stay lit. I had mine tented & used a propane torch to get'er going .  Still died . I had jeff's rub on some chicken thighs & it was getting late so I just fired up some chips . I'll work it out next time I fire it up.... but was a little disappointed & felt foolish ...I'd read this same forum that same morn.

Don't get disappointed and don't feel foolish.

Try the tips below especially the last one, Todd will get it working for you! There are a lot of people using it in the MES so you can too!!!
