My Wife and I just got back from a long road trip. Our son who runs Tower cranes is up in New Jersey and will be for another year. So we took a road trip to go see and visit with them.
Since we were up in that neck of the woods and so close to Macungie PA We just had to go visit my Friend Bear Carver.

It was a beautiful drive, especially when we got closer to their house. I have to say the Pictures John post of his house and yard Do Not do it Justice It is absolutely gorgeous.
We visited and had Lunch. They fixed some things we don't have down here in Texas. John cooked Pork Roll on the grill (Which was awesome) along with beans and slaw.
And the desert WOW Shoofly Pie and Blueberry Zucchini Bread.
We really had a great time and made to feel right at home, we hated to leave but had to get started for home.
Thank you Bear and Miss Linda for the great visit, Fantastic Lunch and having us.

Just caught this, before I exited the forum for the morning.
I'm glad to see you & Bobbie got home safe & sound.
We really enjoyed seeing you two, and finally meeting my Texas Buddy for the first time!!
I knew you'd like the Grilled Pork Roll Sammies, but Mrs Bear was disappointed in her Shoo Fly Pie. It tasted fine, but the wet bottom stuck to the bottom this time. She's actually just learning to make Shoo Fly Pie, and last week was her first time. Her first try tasted Great, but it rose to over the top, during baking.
This time it tasted Great too, but was a little Dry, and the targeted "Wet Bottom" was stuck to the bottom crust. I keep telling her not to worry about it---The taste was still Great !!!!

BTW: I'll be posting the couple Pics I took while you were here, and Thanks for the Jersey Flounder you brought me. I made some last night, while Mrs Bear was at a Funeral, and I'll eventually be posting that too.

We had a great time, been friends for 8 years and finally met in person.

Hey John you tell Ms. Linda that Pie was perfect. And glad you enjoyed the Flounder probably some of those I caught. My son caught the biggest one and that 60 -70 sting ray.

Thanks Gary!!
I told her the Shoo Fly was Great, but she's like us in being her worst critic!!

And I don't like those Sting Rays. Reminds me of the death of the Croc Hunter.
