I've been jonesing for a ham salad sammie. So, it was time. And it just so happened I had a Frick carver in the fridge. This will be for work tomorrow with Ritz crackers. Love having them this way.
My way is pretty much throwing things together. And grinding it up. For crackers. I like a courser grind. Sammies, finer.
A chunk of ham. Probably a half pound.
Half a small onion
Couple dill midget pickles
Pepper
Couple TBS of mayo
And this spice. Great stuff for veggies, sammies, sprinkle on pickled eggs!

Really tasty blend. Put a dash of this on a loaded backed tater should be illegal!
I grind the onion and pickles seperately. Put in bowl. And some mayo. Mix.
Then take the ham. Cut in small chunks. And process as far as you like. For this. It is course.
Add to veggies.Mix well. Taste. Adjust the pepper and dill seasoning. Add either more mayo. Or pickle juice to the thickness you prefer.Let it meld together overnight. And enjoy!

Looks great! I need to make some! I bought some store bought yesterday and it sucked.

That looks good Steve! I happen to like mayo based chopped samiches.... the fam doesn't so I don't get them as often as I would like! Almost did a smoked chicken one yesterday!

Ham on. Looks good to me.

I'd be all over that . My Dad made the best ham salad . Wish he would have written it down .

Never had ham salad. Same as deviled ham? HUGE bologna salad guy tho and all about it on crackers. MIL take on it was a big hit of onion and bunch of hard boiled eggs. Would love one day to geek out and perfect it. I think maybe some heat like a chopped fresh jalapeno? Or maybe use spicy pickled eggs for the the hard boiled maybe?

THAT LOOKS PRETTY DARNED SWEET FROM WHERE I'M SITTING STEVE, NICE JOB!

Thanks! I'll use either. But mayo works better for me too.

Sounds good to me 👍

Thanks! Some good recipes have gone that way.

About the same I guess. Just deviled ham in my thought. Is a finer grind. Perhaps with egg in it. The deviled ham I had as a kid came in a can. And was about the same as that potted meat.

Thanks Ray!

Looking good Steve. I like the finer grind with ham salad. I also add a touch of mustered to mine.

Point for sure
Chris

I love that stuff whatever it's called where ever you're from. Ham spread is what I think it was when I was a kid. I do recall a bologna version also. Good stuff!!!

I like ham but I never developed a taste for ham salad, probably because I never had it decently prepared.

Thanks for the recipe! I have some chunks from a double smoked ham in the freezer and I'm tired of ham & beans. Sounds like a nice little project...
:emoji_wink:

SH, I love ham salad and make up a batch with every ham we cook up. I'm with you on the Ritz cracker and ham salad combo!
