I have not decided yet... I do like the reverse flow.. but I did like the T style USD.. ummmmmm
 
this I'd what I'm working on now... my work is cleaning out the storage shed... so I picked up a bunch of used stainless... barrel, cart. etc.. glad that I have a tig welder at home... this is how far I got so far..

Dang that is a cool barrel....Looks like its going to be a nice build...
 
quick question, does the firebox need to be on the side of barrel? or can input it below and pipe it to the side, you think I would loose to much heat..
 
No don't put the box under neath and pipe it to the side. Heat as you know wants to go straight up so you could put the box underneath/pipe it straight up and use a heat diverter or do a side mount.

I could see the FB resting on the bottom shelf/piping straight into it  and the cooking chamber opening from the other side....i't be a pretty cool smoker.  

You'd have to turn the chamber around though and cap the side?, it'd be worth it imo.
