How big is the opening between your FB and CC? It looks to small in the picture. I did a recent build with a 500 gallon tank and have no problems getting the temp up. I didn't go reverse flow.
 
The space from the plate that makes it a reverse flow and the far end of the smoke chamber.

I was asking how big of an opening you have between the firebox and cook chamber. The way your picture looks it looks like it isn't big enough.


This is how mine looks. The piece of metal is hanging down is a diverter.
