So, last night the bride was making room in the freezer for the ham/cb that I sliced up.  While digging, she came across a vac packed lump of meat.  When she flipped it over, it said "Chuck 10/13"

We debated about 5 minutes and decided to put it in the frig to defrost, tonight I shall warm it up and see what we have!

So, have any of you found forgotten treasure in the freezer lately?

My wife fills the freezer and I try to stay away from it. That said last time "we" went through it I found a six year old whole chicken it went in the trash!

hard to say on something vac packed in the home.   Commercial vac pac is a different story.   I cooked some butts that were over 3 years old and they were fine.

I'd think that worst case scenario would be a bit of freezer burn.   If you find some burn on the meat, just slice it off.  It's not harmful, just has a strange texture and an unpleasant taste.

Since the seal is intact you won't have any freezer burn.  Beef has the longest freezer life of any domestic meat.  We've fished 4 year old and older packages of local grass fed beef out of the depths of the freezer and it's been just fine.
