Wish me luck. hope all goes well. It’s a 8 pound butt. Hoping to go at 240-250 smoker temp. Hoping it’s done in 12 hours or less. It’s going to be 50 and windy tomorrow..

Smoked some ribs last weekend for my 1st smoke. Those came out well.

Looks good.
Sounds like the weather will present some challenges too.

8 lber i usually get that done in 9 to 10 hours at the same temps, depends on the cut of meat, outside temp etc. good luck, pork butt was my first try too and did great with it, got me hooked!!!

Yep. I second the early start. Good luck!

Love the gas pumps and coke machine keep the snow. Good luck with the pork. Very forgiving

The butt is on the smoker @ 5:30 AM...

Sounds like you have a good plan. Have fun and enjoy.

Chris

My plan is to wait it out. Sure hope it don’t take too long??? Never done one so it’ll be a learning experience...

By not wrapping, it does take a little longer.
But in my opinion, it is well worth it to not wrap.
I don't spritz during the cook either.
Before you know it, you'll be doing overnight smokes and just sleep through the stall.
And as Sandy said above enjoy the ride.
