I will say this. There is always at least one block in those cities where all the lawns are well manicured, no graffiti on the building, no homeless encampments to be seen. Entry to those area's are by invite only unfortunately.

Chris
Probably similar up in the northern rural area where I grew up these days.

lol there isn’t an amount of money that could get me to go to that part of the country!
I don't blame you one bit. Just hope the drones level NJ.
Ah come-on Jake. With that shiny new hat. You'd fit right in with the boys of Trenton, Newark or Camden.

Chris
Those places are true shit holes, especially Camden and Newark. I would pay hundreds more not to fly out of Newark airport!

Now now there are some nice areas in Jersey. Monmouth, Kendall park and I'm sure there is at least one or two others. After all it is the Garden State.

Yeah indoor flying isn’t easy. First day I got my drone I flew it straight into a ceiling fan in my living room. The ricochet almost killed me lol
I've bought more replacement props from in door flying than out door. :emoji_laughing::emoji_laughing:

The Amish are in on it too...

Just thought I would share a couple of real-world examples of mapping drones.....

Drone2.PNG

This scan was taken at night to avoid vehicles on the roadway interfering with scan.....
drone3.PNG

Almost all utilities have their lines scanned now....example of scanning in a residential area....

Someone posted a video of one of the ones up in the NE.....can't vouch for the authenticity like the ones above but, this guy is appears to be LIDAR mapping....... someone is paying $$ to do this at the scale they are......Whoever is getting this data will be able to pinpoint door handles on peps houses.....

I’ll also add that when mapping it’s often done in two steps, ie a camera outfitted drone takes high res photos followed by a LIDAR unit to do the 3d part of it.

In recent years we have seen larger mapping companies come fly huge areas (like more than 15,000 square miles were I live for example) and then they “sell” the data as instantly ready for design. We also have huge mapping data bases that the local university collects and maintains from each public project that is included once published….. it is big business and 10s to 100s of million worth of revenue.

A previous company I worked for got a contract from Missouri DOT to high res low level map about 25% of the state we had 4-6 helo’s (pre-drone days) running low elevation flights for months and months. We had to dispatch LEO many times because of “shots” taken at the helo’s. This company was also helping some class 1 RR map all of their ROW assets as a new federal requirement. We had a 1M multi head LiDAR Scanner mount on the engines and scanned about 3000 miles of track and ROW. We had 450 temp employees working 24/7 processing the data for a year……

Today this work is almost exclusively drone based………my most recent project used a fixed wing to get images for about 70 miles of interstate, with a truck mounted scanner to get payment and roadside features followed by drone based collection outside that…..Ie we had drones and strange looking equipment working up and down the highway for months....we did do a public notice release and still got calls......

Just another example: This one is really cool! IE when they moved the Space Shuttle Endeavour to its final resting place in the California Science Center, it needed to be "driven".....So my company did a full 3d model of the route and the shuttle to model its travel path to identify what needed to be moved to make it happen....
endevor-scan.PNG

The whole path was sectioned and then a plan to move obstructions so it would fit....

Oh this was back in 2012 and the technology has EXPLODED! Oh and I share this to give an idea to folks of what kind of data they are likely collecting……

That was a cool day. I remember watching it fly around LA piggy backed on a large jet. The news kept talking about having to move so many light poles and other obstructions to get it there.

Pretty interesting info y'all. No doubt this is domestic and either military, DOD civilian or corporate civilian. I had a craft fly over my property, or nearby at least, last night that was at an altitude and direction that was unusual. It was also flying at a very low speed. It was definitely a prop-driven aircraft but there was no way to really see it well in darkness. We get plenty of flights above us and even low helicopters but this one was different...kind of random.

Btw I believe in a multiverse and think we are all running on timelines. Like we exist in several levels. Did something get opened up?
You are the first person I have seen/heard say this. I have been trying to explain "timelines of fate" to people for years. It doesn't break through most people's minds...right off the bat, some beliefs exclude such a notion, so people are set in their ways, often from birth, and cant think outside the box.
I just want to know what's really going on. With all the hubbub, there has to be some rhyme or reason to all of this. I don't do conspiracy theory, but do understand how compelling some of it can be. That said, I worked in "drones" for one of my shore tours. We called them all kinds of names... UAV etc etc. The command I was at was a niche community that did surface and air target and threat simulation. Yes I was a world famous VC-6 Firebee! Anyway, our "drones" were BQM-74E's and were used to provide targets for ships and aircraft to fire guns and missiles etc at. We did zero flights over land, but occasionally the public would see the launch, but more than likely the recovery if it occurred at all. You fished them out of the drink with a boat or helo and they brought them back to the base or wherever you were...so people saw this 12' long orange thing dangling from under a H-60 or H-46. Late 2004 I think September, I took a det to Pensacola to take part in a nation wide threat simulation. It had a silly name I can't recall, but there were 4 maybe 5 simultaneous threats across the country and our portion was attacking Eglin AFB with our drones acting as inbound missiles that we launched from a small ship somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico while one of the bridges or tunnels was "attacked" in NYC, and I don't recall the rest. Anyway, the military is constantly doing stuff like this, but with a lot more transparency. Anyway, that's my unsolicited $0.02 on drones.
I worked as a technician on the U.S. Navy Deep Drone unmanned submersible and in addition to aircraft disaster recovery, we also worked test ordinance recovery. Most people arent aware, but not only do we have hydrophone and other sensor arrays spider-legging out from coastlines, we also have undersea military training and testing locations (mostly where the sea is clearer). The military does exorcises in these ranges...ships, subs, aircraft and I'm sure now more advanced drones (my story is roughly turn of 1990). They launched target drones like you describe, except these were under water.

The weapons were supposed to near miss the drones but sometimes collided (these were drones built on torpedo platforms designed to act and sound like Soviet subs, etc.). When they collided, both the drone could not be maneuvered back to the base ship/boat but also the weapon (a torpedo for instance) could not blow its flotation device for the recovery ships to gaff and lift onboard.

We were sent in to recover them thousands of feet down on the sea floor. These were secret operations in the sense that nothing was ever broadcast about them, but some people, even the Soviets (this was going on during the collapse of the Soviet Union) knew something was going on. The island residents where these ranges were could see the activity and our very unusual looking sub system on deck when we came to port and sometimes the weapons and drones we recovered right there on deck, sometimes tarped but one could surmise the shape.

The government definitely does a LOT of "unusual stuff" "nearby" civilians without a lot of transparency. I've personally been involved in clandestine activities internationally...far beyond the general story I just told. Very secret stuff going on around populations that the populations have no idea of...generally.
It is the people on them that is the problem, in my younger days I drove further south to Dewey beach DE even though I am surrounded by beaches here on Long Island.
That's partly why I dont like the beach. Never thought it was fun to go out there, have to pick a spot to stake a claim and be out there with all the people.
