Just another pork butt...to get me back into the swing of things as I havent had chance to smoke for a while.
And what do you do when you get bored waiting on your butt...you grill some burgers hahaha.
Hot dogs loaded with pulled pork, pickled cabbage, grated cheese, grated apple and bbq...
So I love pork belly slices... I've never smoked them obviously but after seeing @Traeger.Rage.BBQ 's pork belly bites the other day I was just dying to try smoking some!
Not sure how they are supposed to be smoked. I probably should have checked first... but I was in a hurry to have some for...
So this time I didn't go to the butchers as I wanted to save a pretty penny or two...
I got these babybacks from Waitrose (for my uk buddies) about £4 a Rib. These were so much smaller and uniform and pretty to look at (I don't even know what my butcher sold me last time, perhaps it was The Hulk...
So I finally got there and did my first fatty this morning...well two actually...because I'm just greedy and wanted the best of both worlds... but anyway I'm rambling again, yay!! go me!! :D hahaha.
So I took inspiration from a few people on here that I ought to thank...
@GhostPirate for his...
Just wondering if there is a way to keep threads handy, like bookmark them or something?
I see brilliant posts featuring step by step methods all the time (really helpful for a newbie like me) that I really want to try but it's a case of when I get around to trying it.
The search facility is...
I currently have half a rack of baby back ribs in the smoker with dry rub on and and a pan with Apple juice underneath. We are 1:30 hrs into the cook trying to keep it around 225-250.
I haven't lifted the hood at all yet...just wanted to check should I be spritzing or mopping yet?
I plan to...
So my butcher wanted £50 for a bone in pork butt...hell no! I'm still practicing and don't have the mouths to feed for that...except mine but I'm trying to be good! Haha.
Anyway he said he had some small rolled butts for £4 each so I was cool with that...for now anyway :D
So I'm getting to...
Yet again on impulse...(note to self, plan my smokes!) I decided to smoke some chicken as I had some chicken thighs and drumsticks that needed to be used before tomorrow. It was getting on here about 6.30pm and I was pretty adamant my second time at chicken wouldn't take as long as the first...
Decided to try grilling a couple pork chops earlier hot and fast...
Rubbed with Olive oil, Salt, Pepper, Paprika & Thyme.
Went on direct. Over a hot heat few mins each side pulled at 140°F rested to 145°F
Fried Potatoes, Peppers with Olive oil, Salt, Pepper, Garlic, Cumin seeds...
So this morning I was up at 4am in preparation to cook my pork butt. I'd ran out of my Weber charcoal briquettes but had some lump wood I'd managed to find in a local shop.
Well....haha that is when everything went wrong! So I've never used lump wood before, I'm new to grilling full stop...the...
Woke up and was feeling impulsive again and decided to whack half a leg of lamb on...
Rubbed with olive oil, salt and pepper, a generous layer of garlic powder and then covered in a powdered bbq glaze from my butchers. Sat in fridge while I cleaned out the grill. Went on at just above 225° F...
Let's say I only have a few hours to try out my smoker...Is there anything I can I cook that wouldn't take 6+ hours...ideally just under 4?
Thanks in advance
Charlotte
Dying to get smoking but my wood hasn't arrived yet, so I've just been playing in the meantime with direct cooking. Even Mr green fly is giving a high five :D
So I impulsively went out to buy a bbq grill the weekend. There's not really much choice that I'm aware of in the UK (but I knew I didn't want to live up to the UK stereotype and just be grilling burgers and hotdogs ).
I ended up with a Jumbuck dual fuel with smoker for £300 from my...
