Had a little over 2 pounds of turkey leftover, still...so I used my double-smokedham-salad recipe and substituted turkey.
I used a medium plate...should have used coarse as turkey crumbles easier than ham. It is still yummy.
IMPORTANT - Put in all ingredients and 1/2 of the mayo. From...
Finally got around to this project I've been planning for awhile. Back around Easter I grabbed some Kroger spiral sliced hams for $0.99 / lbs. I smoked them in the Lang with cherry , cut off the bone and vacuum packed for the freezer. I'm not big on those slices for sandwiches but love ham...
Looks great Jeff, I always save some of our doublesmokedham for salad. I've never even given cheese a thought prior to your post. That will change on my next batch. Thanks in advance.
Point for sure
Chris
Christmas eve will be a doublesmoked spiral ham .
Christmas day the kids go to their Mom's side , so it will be just me . Well , me and a cattle dog bumping the back of my legs .
I look forward to these days . Not sure yet what I'll do , but might include some kraut and sausage .
That and the...
That looks amazing, and the penetration of the nitrites looks like you injected?
I'm going to wet cure and inject into the pork butt next time because even after 21 days it hadn't fully penetrated due to bone, membranes, fat and various other connective tissues within the butt.

Does cooking them change the flavor much?
BLTs sound good, but they're not on the menu for a few weeks. I have some doublesmokedham defrosting and I'm going to make grilled ham and cheese with a homemade tomato soup this week.

...growing up, we ate it A LOT because it was cheap and maybe that's why as I got older, I never cared for any kind of potted meat. Fast forward a few decades and I decided that it wasn't really as bad as my memories said it was so I bought a couple of cans to keep in the cabinet for...well, for...
I would, but I just made a batch of ham salad from a doublesmokedham I did a few months ago. So the BLT will have to wait until my next day off which is Monday.

I used pretty average pre shredded cheese in this. It's really good if you shred in some good extra sharp white!
I am on the lookout for $0.99 ham now. Want to get at least a half dozen smoked and frozen. People went bonkers for the ham salad. I could have sold it all lol. I had to cut it...
Looks fantastic Jeff!!! I'm visiting my smoke therapist on Weds. and I'm hoping he gives me a prescription for pulled pork and pulled doublesmokedham.
Point for sure

...of votes. Thank God once again that I don't have to vote. This one is gonna be tough.
1) Fresh collards seasoned with leftover doublesmokedham from Thanksgiving. Topped with a medium chow chow and hot sauce.
2) Smoked 2 - 2+ Pound Weaved Turkey Dinner Rolls ( Turkey, stuffing, Cranberry...
I have a no salt rub . Like Chris I don't rub a doublesmokedham . I can get it to you but it's not done with ham in mind . If you do that glaze scald the bourbon to get rid of the alcohol .
I'd like to start this with an apology. I try to reply to each entry in some capacity just to let you know I got it and to thank you for sending it in. Sadly, time did not permit me to reply to the last several entries that came in. For that, I do apologize. I did however take time to go back...
