...grill as the lil smokey joe is not altered in any way... It really is the perfect smoker for camping as it is a 2-1 unit...
Very fuel efficient either way... And you don't need electric ...
If your a handy man and want a project, search for MiniWSM builds here... there are many ...
Long time lurker, first time poster. Figured I better introduce myself. Been into SMF since years back when I built my first mini-wsm with instructions from this site for making Scarbelly wings and it's been all good eats from there. Graduated to a OKJ barrel for bigger jobs but I still love the...
...most versatile grills of all time! I have three, one original I bought, my FIL’s that I inherited after his passing and one that someone was gonna haul off… I have two mini joes and also made a miniWSM!
Well, I guess now I sound like a kettle/Smokey Joe hoarder! 😂
Again, nice cook @clifish
Actually, it’s a Smokey Joe mini-kettle I got originally for car camping. I think you can get from HD for cheap. I hunted a clay pot that was exactly same diameter, took a sawz-all to the base and ordered a set of wide skewers from Amazon. Works a treat!
Yep its that time of year again. Picked up a 12.7 pound brisket from our restaurant supply. $4,79/pound this year so up a dollar from last year.
I followed my preferred method of dry curing that I have outlined in this post...
Bought this little burner a while back but never really used it so I decided to change that. It really seemed as though it would pair well with my spare smokey Joe so I decided to combine the two. It seems to hold 225 almost dead nuts on the lowest setting, but will get in the 420's when needed...
No.
In fact, depending on your smoke generator, you might consider opening the door (or lid) on your smoker to keep the heat down. You need flavor smoke only, not cooking temps.
This is a mini-WSM conversion, my favorite cheese smoker, look at 9:45 to 12:00.... that blur is smoke. Light...
Cooked one of those frozen football sized butterball turkey breast on the miniwsm and couldn't be more pleased. Cooked around 275 to 300 using the meater temp probe to monitor temps. Took it off at 160 and let it rest tented in foil which carried it over to 165. Once the temp started falling, I...
Roger that. I've already started playing with that method and I bought a $10 mini blender that has potential. Misting pellets with water breaks them down too, but then drying is involved.
Heat was the main reason I liked using sawdust instead of pellets for cheese and my mini-WSM was the...
...for a UDS... I wanted to measure the diameter JIC (just in case)... but never did... Ace's website doesn't give diameter...
For my MiniWSM (same theory as UDS but downsized)... I just used a piece of 1/4" plate and cut a round about an inch smaller than the inside diameter of the drum...
I used a 14" WSM for years and was able to get a solid 10-12 hours out of a full load of coals.
If memory serves...I used a mini chimney full for a full basket of coals. Minion method was less than that. I would get the starter coals pretty much all white then add them. The temp should spike...
...this grill enough. Great temp control, great smoke options. Changed my life. I’ve ran the gamut of grills and smokers from a homemade Weber miniwsm with a home brew pid and fan to a master built mes40 with mailbox mod. Spent way more than the modest $600 for the char griller. My green...
...As many know.. I'm not one to take pictures.. So I had some sent to me.... these are a few they sent
Some were done and removed at this point... I always use Smokin Al's method and take the internal temp
The 2 chickens went in my MiniWSM as beer can chickens... no pics of them ...
...way less smoke than my tube. It's is about equal to two cigarettes sitting in an ashtray. I really have to look at the top vent on my MiniWSM when smoking cheese to even see smoke. The only trick I use with the sawdust it to mix it well each time before filling the tray, and I have top...
Made this several months ago out of a 30 lb propane tank. Its seasoned like a piece of cast iron and called the turd for obvious reasons. Sucker gets hot!
Lemon pepper on the left and kettle fried on the right.
I’ve got an igrill2 but couldn’t find how to set the alarms. I’ve never done an overnight smoke before but wasn’t too worried as the miniwsm has always been good to me. This is the ugliest graph I’ve ever seen!
First shot is the beginning. I went to bed around the 225 peak. At the low point is...
