It's what's know as an ECB - El Cheapo Brinkmann.Names other than Brinkmann are pasted on them, but they all are relatively the same. They made them in charcoal and electric. Here's a few threads on them...

I always hear such great things about wsm's but my first smoker was a very bad ECB so Im predisposed against the bullet style I guess haha.
But for $120, idve grabbed it up too :-)
...reading than posting. Unfortunately, the activity in that forum seems to have lowered drastically since I last participated in it. I've used an ECB, a Brinkman offset, and converted a Brinkman electric smoker to charcoal. The Brinkman offset was a bit of a challenge to learn, using...
...get into smoking with hardwood charcoal instead of my electric "Frankensmoker," and a friend recently gave to me an even cheaper knock-off of an ECB water smoker that had been left out in her back yard for years. It was all nasty on the inside and all rusty on the outside, with rotting wooden...
My vote is WSM 18.5” after finally getting one. I started on an ECB for $35 after brinkmann folded and while I got to tend to it more it also was miserable. Don’t get the 22.5” unless you really bbq a ton. A lot of ppl here say get the 22.5 then you’ll also read a ton on ppl who don’t use it...
Been awhile since I posted anything but here goes.
Got a stick burner and does well for me. Got a ECB to help with long overnight cooks but mainly use it as a holding oven after finished smoking 155F or so. What I have been doing is smoking to wee hours of morning then wrapping and hold for few...
...offset from Walley World, and I joined the forum. I posted a few super newbie posts as I got my feet wet, then eventually switched to an ECB. I didn't post any after that point, but went into lurk mode as I learned how to get the best que of it, and then finally graduated to an 18" WSM which...
hi all, ecb owner that’s about to buy a WSM. How’s the door work on these exactly? Every demo models always been busted and the one thing I did like with the ECB was that the door was simple. Sadly the rest of ECB is a pain so I’m looking forward to set and forget
Yeah I’m skeptical on their whole charcoal part design. My excitement is really around the fact that it’s about the same price as an ecb and similar initial design, so it gives options for those who wanted to mod an ECB to have a new unit to do it to
I was in correct. The legs are not on the outside. Spitting image of the ECB tho. Yes, everything is interchangeable. The lid is my favorite. It has a metal ring around it like i was planning to mod the ECB lid. The lid also has vents and a much better thermometer.
Thanks for the like Chop. This is my second smoker also, first was an ECB. It took a little time, but once I learned it's nuances I really enjoy using it.
...up early and managing a fire in my wood-burning smoker all day just didn't appeal to me this year. That's when I decided to break out my old ECB (El Cheapo Brinkman) and sit on my butt (no pun intended) in the air conditioning and let electricity do all the work.
My ECB is slightly modified...
Rings,
I just picked up an ECB the other day. Purchased an ECB look a like from Wal-Mart about a month ago. Surprisingly, everything is interchangeable. The clone has a better thermometer, air vent and lip. Other than moving the legs to the outside, adding "legs" to the charcoal pan, and...
I picked up a replacement door and latch after about 18 months with my WSM. I won’t say it’s airtight, but I will day it was better enough to make it worth the $65.

Well now that boating season in Michigan is slowing down. I decided to dig out the ECB and try smoking some chicken. I am not as prolific a smoker as most people here are so chicken will be a first for me. We'll see how they turn out.
Welcome. The WSM is fantastic! I had an ECB i tried to learn on before getting the WSM this last year, and after making really good ribs on my first try I can say that getting the WSM was the right choice. As a new owner, be prepared for the temps to be all over the place on the first smoke...
Yup that's what it is an ECB I had one and used it till if wore out. A leaning curve to control temp in. but it can be done. Had a lot of great food from mine over the years. But for a few dollars more you can get some other great units.

Wow the return of memories I too started with a hibachi then did a lot over an open wood fire before my first cheapo charcoal grill then a gasser and a Master Built 40' g as smoker Oh and I had ecb before that. For sure you have learned what a great hobby it is.
