ZIPLOC
OMELET

(This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!)

Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes [we did 15 minutes]. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece...

Imagine having these ready the
night before, and putting the bag in boiling water while
you get ready. And in 15 minutes, you've got a nice
omelette for a quick
breakfast!!!

My wife and I teach a cooking class and have done these with our 4H kids - they actually come out nice - I like to add a little water to the eggs for a little lighter omlet. I have tried both water and milk and the water makes it lighter. Add lots of stuff and have fun - also check Utube - there are several posts of this technique there

Now that is a great idea and it sounds like a fun thing to do. Thanks for sharing. It's all good my friend.

We ride motorcycle and camp with about 5 other couples and the ziploc omelet's are usually one of our breakfast, takes a while to do 10 or 12 but they are good.

Ah the joys of Scouting memories. When I was a Scoutmaster, we would make these quite often.

One morning, one of my oler Scouts added everything that he could to his eggs- diced onions, diced green bell peppers, olives, diced ham and cheese. When we pulled his omelet out of the pot of water, one of the newer Scouts commented that it looked like "Barf in a bag" and from that day on they were refered to as Barf omelets!

Yea I saw this on a show on the food network. Omelets for a group you just get all your parts is pieces of the omelet and let everyone add what they want to and then just boil it and bingo bango your omelet Sir

We used this method for our eggs this Summer when we took a remote trip into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Works like a champ, and no pan to scrape clean. Eggs came out perfect.....

Going to have to try that. I was in scouts until I turned 17 and spent a lot of time camping and cooking out. We never made these....

I feel deprived now..
