you know you're hooked on smokin' when you stay up until the wee hours trying a new charcoal placement method with temperature probs and all and you dont even have meat in the cooker.  just bought a new weber one touch gold and got bored after cooking hamburgers.  thought i would test out the method of placing briquettes in a snake around perimeter of kettle.  works pretty good.  a bit hot though:  242F.  charcoal 1/4 way round gave  4 hours of heat.

You know you are hooked when the Family threatens to KILL you if you Smoke one more thing this Month, and it's only the 15Th!...

When people are mad I go out of town... then post pics of FB.. Not of Vacation or my Family... of the Food! We are blessed...

im not especially social, but i now im always trying to convince wife we should have backyard party just so i can feed my meat to someone.  weird when you get more thrill from cooking than eating

Im always looking for something "small" to smoke.. but I drag my uds to my local pub and since I'm there usually all day on saturdays I take advantage of the day, and just ask anyone that wants something to eat donate a couple bucks just to help with the food cost. They regulars love it.. and it makes me feel good to share something I love. But like I said.. they were pissed cause Ive been on the coast for almost two weeks.. they didnt miss me...they miss the food.. hehe. .

Bagbeard , I am so proud of you. You are doing what every beginner (or just getting a new smoker) should do... practice with your Smoker.  This helps one get more efficient with thier equipment and insight to solving problems ... Kudos.

When your wife is looking for something to cook for dinner, the freezer is full of meat and she can't find anything to cook because everything in there is "to be smoked".

Up until I started smoking my wife couldn't get me to cook anything, now my days off are spent tending the smoker all day, she can't get me to stop!
