My Camp Chef has been very kind to me, and has help me create many, many fine meals. But it's time for an upgrade.

Last weekend I pulled the trigger and paid for a Yoder YS640. I was looking at them about a year ago, and in hind sight should of bought it then. The "new" models come with Fireboard software, WIFI enabled, and cost several hundred dollars more. But whatevs .... it is what it is, right?

I will take deliver next Thursday, a 2 week wait. You folks are the only ones I've told about this! Although my wife not only gave me the nod, she also urged me to go buy it. She's supported me through thick and thin, and has been my biggest supporter in my recent promotion at work, which has been both challenging, and rewarding. I've been able to "afford" the purchase in the past, but have never been able to "justify" it to myself. The cost is a solid mortgage payment!!! But she has convinced me that I deserve to spoil myself, at least once in a blue moon. I've got a great woman by my side...

I can't wait to get this machine. I think a brisket will grace the grill for the initial cook? Or plate ribs? Or both????????? Time will tell! Next weekend is a lifetime away!!!!!

Congrats on the Yoder. I had seen where they now built the new "S" model. I bet those new gadgets on the S model will be fun to work with! We have no complaints with ours and have owned it over a year. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I've heard they have good service & support but I've never had any issues (yet?)

Post picks when you get her fired up and I think a brisket would be a great first cook.

Congrats! I use the Yoder probably 2-3 times a week. I bought it about 3 weeks before the upgrade came out, so was a bit sad but they have a retrofit coming out in Q3 for current owners and hope they price it accordingly so it costs the same in the end. I bought a spare thermocouple and the new ceramic lighter for when the current one dies. I bought fireboard too and love that, so to have a quality probe like that with the Yoder controller in the solid tank build would be the cat’s pajamas.

Buy the Yoder heat gloves for like 26 bucks....come in handy for handling dirty grates.

AAAnnnddd ..... delivery is delayed by at least 2 weeks. I was told that Yoder is falling behind on delivery expectations ... oh well. I've gone 47 years without a YS640 in my life ... what's 2 more weeks?? LOL!!!
