Greetings from the Midwest.

New to the forum, glad to have found this place to pick the collective smoking mind. We have been smoking for a while now but on a gas grill with a wood chip box but it was time to update so we opted for a Traeger Pro 34. Still exploring the grill and the entire new world pellets. So far we have cooked some steaks and burgers and smoked a rack of ribs with it. Figured we would work our way up to a brisket or pork shoulder this summer.

Welcome. When I had my traeger I would use lumberjack pellets, and start my cooks with the smoker temp at 180* for the first hour then bump up the temp. Gave me pretty good smoke flavor!

Yeah that is what we did with the ribs before turning the temp up. We added some apple to a smoke pellet tube for the duration as well. So far we have only tried Bear Mountain pellets. We have a bag of Pit Boss to try next then we will eventually pick up some Lumber Jack. The nearest LJ seller is an hour plus round trip from us so I see a volume run happening when we go get them.

But more chewy than we like so we will pre cook it more next time
