Morning all,
I haven't had this in quite a while. Figured it's time to correct that!

Thanks! Only way to have it in my opinion!
Long story short, but at my first duty station I met this salty old First Class that put hot sauce and copious amounts of black pepper on everything he ate. I asked him one day at the galley, and he said something like "once you eat boat food you'll understand it can't taste bad if its covered in pepper and tabasco". Good times... good times.

Not just boat food. If you ever had a C-ration. You'd know the reason behind hot sauce!!

Out here on the west coast my grandmother made SOS using tuna on Wonder bread toast. Had it for breakfast just about every morning before heading off to school.

Story: Every fall grandpa would bring home a whole tuna and grandma would spend a week canning it. They'd put 10 or so cases of pint jars in the shed. The whole place would smell like tuna fish for weeks after she was done canning it.

Never heard of that before. Sounds interesting!

I'm sincerely fortunate we have you Steve and others that enjoy SOS, this allows me to continue my abstinence. Dad was in the Merchant Marines and mom used to make if for him, while he loved it my brother and I had to suffer through that dinner more times than I care to remember 🤣

We had it for supper , but used ground beef ( not trying to get that started ) open face on buttered toast . Heavy on the black pepper .
I like it . Haven't had it in years .

Sorry , I had to look up SOS, and i cannot for the life of me remember ever having that or anything like it .
And dad was in the navy for over 25 years.

I think I would love this,

maybe dad had it in the service and told mom not to make it.
But also being both parents were country folk kids you would think this would have been a regular staple for us.

We had mostly hot oatmeal or cream of wheat for breakfast
