So I found a couple of lost yardbirds and I offered them a warm place to stay......

Here is their photo journal to a happy place :-)

First they went to the spa for a nice rub down....

The rub down hooked them real good...

That felt so good they decided to hang around in the cherry wood fired sauna

Good thing the sauna was all weather tight and even the control room inkbird was prepared for the monsoon....

It was so nice the yardbirds started to take on a nice tan.

They did have enough sense to roll over so they tanned evenly though.....

Just basking in the warmth of the cherry coals....

All ready to go to the finishing room for the final treatment....

Each waiting their turn for the dressing room after a perfect day at the XFG Spa.

Waiting takes great patience.

And finally all properly dressed they decided to stay for dinner!!!!

Yardbird heaven!!!!

Thanks Chris!

Looks absolutely delicious!
Nice rig too!!!
Al

Al, thanks on both accounts! The wife said the birds were 99.5 cause no gravy & spuds.

Very nice. I have never seen one of those kind of rigs.

Thanks JC! The rig is a new design my son and me came up with for a high school class project. We still need to finish the outside but it’s functional enough to cook, ie this is only second cook and first time cooking birds this way.

Nice write up great cook in your new build.

Warren

Thanks Warren! My son helped with the write up, he has been talking non stop about roasting birds in it. Now if we can just get all the honey do’s marked off the list we might find time to finish it all the way proper

So now round 2, but this time with the wife’s gravy and Yukon Gold Spuds!

I have a feeling the XFG Spa and Sauna will be running several yardbird specials in the near future!!!!

motocrash.... :emoji_laughing: What else can I say.....that even made my wife laugh....

On the practical side, I can say I’ve been cooking a long time and even spent many years in professional kitchens and to-date I haven’t been this excited about having so many new (well “old” really) cooking opportunities available to explore with......Maybe it’s just me, but there is just something magical about natural flame heat......it’s going to be a :emoji_fire: experience!

Thanks for the like BuckeySteve!

. Well then we are just going to have to keep doing it then!

Nice cook . Looks like it's workin great
. Thanks chopsaw, we are really really happy all the work wasn’t in vain....and we are lining up a list of future test cooks :-)

Yeah, I want one, bad! So awesome!! I can just imagine a whole hog hanging in that thing. Can you post more pics and specifics about the build?

Thanks worm304, so far (just two cooks in and its still not finished), its been awesome. The wife picked up some more T-Bones (the first cook) and 4 racks of ribs for the weekend, so we are are all :-) for that.

A smallish whole hog with feet and head removed (to get more of the eating stuff) will be attempted once the we get the smoking drip plates all finished. Yes if you read the build, the XFG has many more cook/smoke options....

Thanks for the likes Beanhall & Jabiru!
