Hi all,
I had a couple questions as I'm new to smoking.
I want to build a vertical smoker made out of wood. I want this to be able to reach a a temp of 220 to smoke pork ribs mainly. I was thinking about using a cast iron propane burner.
Now the dimensions would roughly be 3-3 1/2 foot tall, 1-1 1/2 foot wide, and 1 1/2 foot deep.
My thought would to use ceramic tiles on the bottom where the propane burner would be and then make two separate Chambers. One for the burner (it would have an opening in the front for air intake) and the top chamber for the smoke, food, water pan, and grease catcher.
Not sure if to line the top chamber with a metal to possibly help with making sure it can get hot enough.
Any feedback?
Also, what type of wood should I use?
What type of metal if needed?
Thanks everybody, feedback is helpful!
I attached a very crude picture with how I thought it might look.
