Wood identity?

I can't see the bark but I am going to say it is maybe red oak. Their are a lot of verities of oak. That all smoke well.

I could be wrong,  but it don't look like red oak to me.  The bark is not rugged or dark enough.

It is not red oak. I'm not sure what kind of oak it is but I would say it is oak.

That's oak.

I usually stay out of these "guess that wood games" but over the years I've eaten enough oak saw dust to say with no doubt that that is oak.

Note that there are many varieties of oak native to different regions of the country even some native to Florida.
