I got a quick question for eveyrone. I was invited to a party and some friends are smoking a bunch of different meats. I was asked to bring the wood chips.  I consider myself pretty decent when it comes to smoking but this time I visited a meat market that I had never been to before. They had natural wood charcoal and the butcher told me that he uses those same exact chips to smoke in his smoker all the time.

I told him that I did not want to cook with them- I needed some to put in the chip container or box to use as smoking chips. He said they would work. Now that I opened the bag up I don't know if it is actually a good idea to use these wood charcoal pieces as smoking chips.

Can anyone give me any advice on this?

Thanks
