So a friend called a couple days ago asks if I can butcher a couple pigs. He is disabled and can't do it so I say sure how bout Friday a.m. and he says good. So this morning I go over and he has trapped three pigs between 40 and 80 lbs. I ask him how he wants them and he says he doesn't they are for me. Well after some discussing I butcher all three split them in half and have them iced down in a cooler now. What the heck I'm gonna do with them I don't know yet. I tried to give one to Seboke but he said he didn't have room for it guess I'll try Flash next anybody close to Central Florida wants at least a half a pig give me a holler. I really don't want to grind them up but fear I can't get them all into my freezers.

I know if you were closer you'd help me out I just hate to grind the smaller pigs they smoke so good. Seems a shame to grind them

Oh MAN! It's just still tearing at me that I can't fit one in my freezer! Lemme chew on it a bit, I may figger something out, especially now that I'm heading over to the east coast to pick up that lang tomorrow!

Congrats on the Lang great news would be a great thing to try it out on

I'm in Crystal River west of Ocala on the Gulf

Really I was born and raised in New Port Nowhere and my whole family lives down there. Maybe I can talk to my father and see if he would be willing to come pick one of those up for me. I will get back to you via PM and let you know

Piney, I will check with FS member Poppadock tomorrow. He has a large smoker and maybe can take a half of one off your hands. I will contact him in the morning.

One more reason that I am buying a huge @$$ freezer before hunting season this year. Can never have too much wild hog. I prefer them in the winter after they have been feasting on acorns, berries and fallen fruit.

This time of year they have been eating swamp roots, dead animals, etc. Not to say these ones would have any problems but I guess that is what has been burned into my head over the years. However, I know people that will also feed wild hogs year round to keep them plumb and tasty. Maybe this is one of those cases. Anyhow, time to start looking for a deep freezer.

These have spent the last four or five days eating corn in the pen.

IF you're tripping over the meat, I bet a local seniors home or food bank or homeless shelter would love to take the meat off your hands, or have you do a BBQ for them...........a true unselfish gift that would bring a smile to many peoples faces.

Great idea but I was kinda hoping to provide a SMF member with something a little different than the average smoking meats.
As of now Seboke is taking one pig I am keeping one pig and have a maybe on the other one. We'll see what today brings

if you were up north here i would help you out with your "problem"...
nice of you to offer up, i am sure there will be plenty of takers cant see a hog roast in the makin being turned down by anyone. or like heap suggested a hog roast for the elderly or the needy!!!!!

Ditto..a small block party ought to have the neighbors lovin ya..and if ya did it at your local fire station..the response time to your shack in an emergancy would be record setting..lol..

Well Seboke just left and he said that lang is so big and them pigs so small he'd take both off my hands. Thanks Seboke a pleasure to finally meet ya
