This is really bothering me, was Eric a big guy? It seems more and more young people are passing away each yr.
Which seems strange too me. Ever since my back injury I've been a big guy. And know it's in my beat interest to lose weight, but I struggle with food, I use food as a security blanket when I'm in pain or can't sleep. I freakin never have been a good sleeper, averaging 4 hrs a night if I'm lucky, which isn't healthy at all. I've tried CPAP, can't do it, which is another bad thing for me. Eric's passing away has really left me thinking what can we really do to help prevent our women and children the anguish Eric family is dealing with Eric's premature departure.

This is really sad, I feel so horribley bad for his family.

RIP Bruth'a man!!!

You were close to making the list too Keith.

Twice... The first time I was In my early twenties I had bacterial meningitis in my head... The infection ate up my left ear drum... That's why I have no hearing in my left ear... It also ate through the skull and was working on the membrane between the skull and brain and was a gnats ass from starting to eat on my brain... That wouldn't have taken long as I don't have much of one... I was quarantined in the hospital for 30 days... My girlfriend at the time snuck in and the nurse caught her in bed with me...

Again... I am still in a state of shock about Eric... RIP Broth'r

I know this thread isn't about me but this whole thread just has me deep inside my own head as I'm only 57. Similar to @JckDanls 07 I too had bacterial meningitis but it was between my 14 and 15 bdays and it was really that close for me and I've had to live with the results of the damage done for all these years.

I've spent the last couple of days just thinking about life in general.

Wow, really sad to read this news. RIP @SmokinEdge :emoji_disappointed:

There is a lot of truth in what you write. I think a lot of it is to do with the food supply and what type of ultra-processed foods we are putting into ourselves.

There is a lot of self-reflection in your post and a number of others I've read, as these events tend to cause men of a certain age to do.

I'll just add to what everyone else has said. I've only been around here for a couple years, but @SmokinEdge has been one of the most helpful and supportive people I've interacted with. I just took time to look back at my interactions with him and found a long message string back and forth that we had where he was teaching me about his SV method for finishing sausages. Never met him in person, heard his voice or knew what he looked like, but I feel like I knew him. Strange, but cool in a way.

For those interested, here is Eric's posting from Roll Call

So sad to see this. My sincerest condolences to the surviving family members.

Eric was one of the many members on this forum that helped me up my game.

Thank you sir and RIP.
