Very sad news indeed! Our condolences to the family!

Justin, that will be fine if you handle the cards and what not!

Just got a text from “SMF Eric”
Though it’s Carma… not Eric!

I told her she would be getting offers for funds to help with his passing. I offered to have them mailed to me and I would of course mail a bundle package of unopened mailings to her.

However, thinking about it… should likely go thru some Admin for some documentation and they should send to Carma and the kids.

@bmudd14474

Your thoughts?!
Might be best if she does a gofundme and shares the link. But if we take a collection I can do it or @Abigail4476

I didn't know him personally, but it's always sad news to hear when one of our brothers departs.
Only the good die young.

Wow, what a shock! Especially when I am 58, were there any underlying circumstances or family history? 56 is waaaayyyy too young.

I can't believe this. Eric & I used to talk pretty often and had some great conversations.
RIP Eric, you will be greatly missed.

Stunned! 56 is too young, he reached out when we had family loss. Meant a lot.

Rest in peace my friend. Justin, or @Abigail4476 or whoever get a go fund me going keep us all posted. Im in for helping!

Prayers for Eric's family.

Losing Eric suddenly was a bit of a surprise and really miss my friend. We chatted very frequently!

Some have offered help, but have not had a PM. The thing I don’t like about fundraiser sites is they keep a percentage.

I’d prefer that money go to Eric’s wife, Carma and the kids instead of the other.

We can agree to disagree if you’d like… but at this point in time… just trying to help Eric’s family!

For every thing I get in the mail… I will take a pic of… and have Carma take the same when she gets it.

Eric give a lot here!

Let’s help his wife and kids, they need it more now than ever.

SmokinEdge, RIP my friend... and my condolences to your family.

Eric was a true ambassador to barbecue and was especially knowledgeable when it came to curing. He shared so many techniques here on the forum, never tired of answering the same questions, and always offered kind words to newer members. After Daveomak's passing, Eric was my go-to when it came to "technical" questions and double checking my curing "mathematics". He will be missed.

Ive been in the planning of building a new shop, mostly for meat and making sausage and such. My plan was to get Eric over here since we really don't live to far away from each other, and truly learn from the master. In my head I could already smell the sausage, green chilis & a few cold beers. No question, it would have been a darn good time.
