Will a new PID controller allow my BBQ075 to burn hotter. It has never seared a steak well.

Hi Bob, I have a Traeger Pro 34 which after a little research looks like it may have replaced the BBQ075 when it was discontinued in 2021. I have the very same experience with my pellet grill that it just cannot seem to get hot enough for searing even when I turn it all the way up, so I bought a weber kettle grill and use that for searing and the Traeger for smoking!

I think part of the reason for that is that it is indirect heat and not exposed to open flame or directly above open coals.

Sorry I wrote this in a bit of hurry the BBQ 075 is a traeger that is probably 10+ years old. It works great for low and slow smoking. I've been looking to do some upgrades to it and was wondering if a new controller would help it run hotter for cooking steaks and chops.

I seriously doubt it. I would recommend getting a charcoal kettle type grill for your chops and steaks! You can buy an Original Weber Kettle grill at Lowe’s for about $150.
