Was at my farm yesterday to do a little work and set up another trail camera. While taking the Ranger through the woods on one of the the old logging roads...there were chanterelles. Gobs and gobs of them! The most I have ever seen at one time!

This haul (about 3 pounds worth) is from only 30 minutes of picking them - only - from the roads and the edge of the roads. I also posted a couple of pic's to show you what they look like "in the wild." Chanterelles are soooo much easier to find than morels!

Will be slicing and dehydrating this batch. Headed back this evening to find another load.

I went Sunday morning and found about 1# of Chanterelle. We are between flushes here. Small button shrooms all over, need more rain for them to mature.

I did find this though....2 purple mushrooms and a golden smooth Chanterelle growing next to each other...

Nice! I feel some foraging in my near future especially since I paid $15 for a puny little container at the farmers market yesterday 😣 Hopefully it will be more successful than my morel hunts of a few years back, these certainly seem easier to spot!

No button's here that we saw - but we were hyper-focused on chanterelles.
Found one "unknown" mushroom type - looked like tannish-white coral. We left it alone!
I think all the rain and the warm temp is making things pop in the fungus family!

I meant to say small emerging chanterelle buttons flushing....very small.....like 1/4"....with more time and moisture, they will grow and be ready for harvest.

Yeah, i agree...it looks like a coral mushroom, and I believe coral mushrooms are an edible mushroom but I am not familiar enough with them.

You are a very, very fortunate man.
I don't live near any good shrooming unless I feel like driving over to the coast.
We used to fill pillow cases full of Chanterelles at a family member's ranch, which is long gone now. Man, I sure miss them, I'd make up a batch of homemade Ravioli if I had a load like that.

Nice score, I'd grab every last one of them and dehydrate what I couldn't eat while fresh. Dehydrating intensifies the flavor in my opinion, which is awesome for cooking.

Get busy, you got some hunting and dehydrating to do.

Great find.

That's awesome, we have a place on 40 acres in an undisclosed location (Ozarks) and have those guys. We have also found Golden Oyster mushrooms. We've been working to up our game with the wild edibles of all sorts. Sumac "lemonade" is on my list, and we have tons of black berries.

Where you at? :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Friend of mine that lives up in Oregon told me that sauteing the chanterelles in butter and onions and then freezing them is one of the best ways to preserve them if you enjoy fresh mushrooms. just thaw, reheat in the pan, and serve.....
I did this with the big batches I harvested this season....
