Now being retired and lifestyle changes it was time to start exercising more. I started slow walking 1-2 miles a day and now I’m up to 4-5 miles 5-7days a week! I have a few favorite place to walk and my favorite is a county refuge close to home with a mix of prairie and woods.

This pic there is a RR track above and several times in the past years we would watch the train pass by.

Last week while walking the trail I found some raspberries and the light bulb flipped on!

So the next day I brought a bag and on the four mile trek I picked this bag and never had to get off the trail to fight the thorny mess. I kept going from bush to bush.

So I call my brother and asked if his Mrs would make a couple pies and she was all in. I went back two more days and picked all the berries I could for two fresh pies and she froze the rest for two more pies when all my siblings get together for Christmas.
The filling she used the wild berries along with their homegrown cherries.
Now the good stuff!

I bought soft serve ice cream to enjoy with the pies.

Those pies look amazing! I have a ton of either black raspberries or small blackberries in my back yard. Just got a beat the birds to them.
