Wild Cherry

Is wild cherry wood ok to smoke with? I typically go by any nut or fruit bearing wood is ok to smoke with, but want to double check on wild cherry. I know that wilted leaves from a wild cherry are toxic to animals, and can kill cows, horses, etc. Because of this, I am cutting down any that I find within the fenced in areas on the farm. I have been burning the wood in the outside boiler, but a co-worker mentioned that I should use it in the smoker. He was unaware of the wilted leaves being toxic.

Any thoughts?

As far as I know it's fine. Maybe knock off some flaky bark because that can lend a bitter flavor. I haven't used cherry much and it turns out to be stronger than I expected.
