I do a combination of making my own and store bought. I like the meat church brand and yardbird. My go to that I make is good on poultry and pork. I also have a beef rub I like to make that is more pepper heavy. Like to mix it up to keep things interesting.

Two dry rub recipes from an older book titled "Smoke & Spice"

Wild Willy's Wonderful Rub

3/4 cup paprika
1/4 cup ground black pepper
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons onion powder
2 teaspoons cayenne

Mix it all together in a bowl. I like to use a small wire whisk to make sure everything gets mixed very well.

Store in an airtight container.

SOUTHERN SUCCOR RUB

Yield: 2 Cups

1/2 c Ground black pepper
1/2 c Paprika
1/2 c Turbinado sugar
1/4 c Salt
4 t Dry mustard
2 t Cayenne

Mix the spices thoroughly in a bowl. Store covered in a cool, dark

pantry.

I have made some myself but also enjoy some commercial rubs that have been mentioned. I'm always on the hunt for a BOGO or closeout when I shop.
Found this one 2 weeks ago at WM and loaded up

Great price and will use as a starting point for mixing my own blends.
Also found this one this week for .50 so grabbed several bottles
