I grabbed a 450 degree handle once. Had the pleasure of listening to my skin sizzle and to smell the smell of my cooking flesh... I have had more blisters than I can count from touching metal or gallons of steam enveloping my arm. Welcome to the world of a cook
I got close to having a blister on a couple of fingers when I went to open the front of my little cheif and I grabed the handle and forgot to put on a glove first. Luckly I let go before it burned enough to blister. But to all of those with the badge I salute you. I have worn the badge a few times from grilling and cook in the kitchen.
The best one I ever done was, I pulled out the pan holding the wood chucks, (no I wasn't stupid enough not to use pliers) added my chunks and picked up the pan to put it back into the smoker. Yepper this time STUPID!!!!!
first time smoking on my home made smoker, I had used a metal die cast handle for the fire box lid, I went to open the lid to add some more lump, no glove and the handle had melted but not fallen apart to drip to the ground it melted into my hand, my wife new I could swear with the best of them but, she never dreamed for how long and with how much veriaty :-)
