We all know who does the smokin....but when it comes to those every day meals.....who's in charge of that in your house.....I cook every meal in my house....and am lovin it!!!
98% here. The three little queens can't eat all the smoke so have to cook normal eats as well. It puts a big smile on my face when they ask for something smoked. Its a true joy.
My wife and I split the inside cooking about 75-25 her. I work a lot of evenings, and she needs to feed our son before I get home. However, all outside cooking is me, as is anything creative, for the most part. She likes to go and find recipe's (so do I, I'm here, right?), and then make them exact. I like to find things, try them, then try to improve them, which has led to a couple arguments as well, lol.
We are about 50-50 here - Since both of us are good enough to teach cooking classes to 4H kids. Once I retire I will handle all of the weekday and we will cook together on weekends - we actually enjoy doing that
We share the duties but when I'm laid off and she's working I do most of the cooking, cleaning, dusting and every other thing she can dream of me doing
I do about 80% of the cooking in my house. Don't get me wrong my wife is a very good cook too but I just like it more I guess. Awhile back after I cooked some seafood and fried something she "Banned" me from the inside kitchen so being the builder that I am I built my own kitchen.!!! So I do alot of the cookin or should we say grilling/smoking but I do it alot and now shes trys to get out in my kitchen speciallty in the summer time.
In the last 7 or 8 years, I do 99%. Prior to that it was 99.9% her. Momma did almost all the indoor cooking and I did the outdoors stuff. Momma is a great cook as anyone can tell by the 100+ Lbs I gained after we married! ;(
I run my biz out of the house so I'm here to do it.
There are certain items that are her specialties (red sauce, meatballs & cheesecake) that I never even attempt so as to keep peace in the house!
Very interesting responses. I actually thought I was different but then I see I'm not. We've been married for 44 years. She was the principal cook during the weekdays and I covered the weekends, when I could. Now that I'm semi-retired, she still works, so I do 99.75% of the cooking, the remainder is her soups and salads she whips up for herself.
She covers week days I do weekends except for hunting seasons. LOL As soon as i get a smoker on a trailer build done i'll pull it to work & cook lunch & dinner while working.LOL
I do all the cooking, my wife actually can cook pretty well she just doesn't enjoy it like I do. She just doesn't have the passion for food and its preparation. She'll get the urge at Christmas to do some baking but other than that not so much. If I'm sick she might make me some soup and a sandwich or nuke something in the microwave but thats about it.
I do consider the kitchen mine, just like the garage. Every kitchen appliance and gadget, etc... I picked out. Heck when we got married I registered at all the local places that had kitchen equipment. A lot of the guests thought they were getting stuff for my wife and boy were they shocked when they found out it was for me.
Shooter, the same here. I do 100% of meal prep. My wife will bake for holidays but I do all meals, every day. She can cook but needs a recipe to follow. She did cook a lot until we had kids. When she was on bed rest with our daughter I took over the job. I had always been into cooking and cooked for myself in college and grad school so it was no problem for me to step right in. I really get into it which is evident in my membership in my many forums.
We we were planning our kitchen remodel we had fundamental differences on just what a kitchen is
. To me it's a work place and to her it's a show place. We compromised but to her displeasure I have a lot of equipment that stays on the counter. I will not have a counter that only has "art" on it. It's a kitchen for goodness sakes.
