Nothing greater than a Connnoisseur of the finer things in life!

Thanks for the update of one of the staples of my college weekend consumption.

John

Just came across this post from days past and it sure brings back some memories.  The things we did and still survived.  Didn't notice any mention of Red Ripple.  Seems like we'd take up a collection to buy a $0.99 bottle.  Those were the days...............

We had a saying in high school "SPEED KILLS BUT RIPPLE CRIPPLES" Ah yes the days of wine and anphedimines!! LOL

Wow, talk about flashbacks, or the ones I remember. The cheap (affordable) wine parties, jungle juice, purple Jesus, pharmco grain , beer balls, beans and your ancient $30 Acapulco gold. Good times. Everybody was laid back without the violence. Make love not war. What a decade, never to be repeated. Glad I was there.

In addition to being a great bra clasp lubricant, it was also very popular at the pond when we held the weekend trash can parties. It was byob, and what ever you brung was poured into the trash can to be mixed with various fruits, usually strawberries, peaches, and melons. Of course vodka and everclear were certainly popular ingredients, but Boones Farm Strawberry Hill 3 for $5 was always the main ingredient.
Vanquero, your trash can mixture reminds me of a mixture we used to make at the Library( a local beer joint near the USL campus in the mid 60's) when I was in college. We would get a pitcher of beer  and an empty pitcher and a gallon of Sweet Vino and mix it half and half in the two pitchers. Talk about a headache the next morning. When I flunked out that semester my mom asked what happened. I told her I couldn't understand because I went to the Library every night. At least I didn't lie to her.

I drank it back in the early 70's. Had a case of it in my trunk at the prom. I was the most popular guy in the parking lot after the prom. But you haven't been messed up until you have drunk Red Rocket!  Should have been outlawed!

Now that's something I must of missed..................it even sounds like a mean high that comes crashing down hard.  LOL.

Dang, this brings back the mostly fuzzy memories of high school in small town Missippi. A fifth of strawberry hill, an eight pack of Miller lite ponies and $5 worth of gas and you were set for Friday night. That and a few tires from behind the local tire shop.

and the tires would be for ..................what?

I remember those days, Also remember when Honda came out with the 305 scrambler, and watching the first Super Bowl and gas was $.21 a gal.

Gary

Throwing tires on a fire is (was) not cool.  Even the crowd I ran with back in the day were pretty eco conscious.  We used gas.

Axel rose was after my time as a rocker. By then I was back into my country outlaw and Southern rock phase. I'm pretty sure if I had all the brain cells I killed from 1970-1980 I could be a rocket scientist. But my high school guidance councilor said I should be a forest ranger or join the army. Boy was she wrong. I did neither. Hey I think I'll start a thread!
