There are lots of smoke tubes available. Most are available on Amazon. Here are a few I found with prices.

A-Maze-N, prefilled with Hickory ($ 22.99)
GMG Thin Blue 11” to 18” ($29.99)
Carpathen Z-Smoker 12” ($17.80)
M Embr Smoking 12" Pellet Smoker Tube ($13.99)
MVZAWINO Pellet Smoker Tube 12" ($9.99)
IGNITE Stainless Steel Smoker Chip Tube 9” ($9.99)
LzzQ.12” ($13.99)

How do I choose? ❓

Hi dubob;

I may have some information which may be of some use to you, as I just tested this yesterday.

Below are the 3 items that I use for supplemental smoke in my pellet smoker.

The Smoke Daddy Heavy D, the A-MA-ZEN smoke tube 12 inch, and the Cave Tools Pellet Tube Wood Smoker Box, which BTW, is said to last up to 8hrs without refilling.

The Cave Tools Pellet Tube Wood Smoker Box holds considerably more pellets than does the A-MAZ-N 12 inch tube does

More than twice as many pellets. The above pic shows the Cave Tools Pellet Tube Wood Smoker Box loaded with two loads of pellets from the A-MAZ-N smoke tube, and it's still not full.

I topped it off and lit it, letting it burn for about 15 minutes before blowing it out and putting it inside the grill.

But here is how long it burned in my "cold" smoker.

I repeated the test using the filled to the brim 12 inch A-MAZ-N tube.

The A-MAZ-N tube, actually burned longer. It burned for 4hrs and 1 minute.

The A-MAZ-N tube is smaller and takes up less grill space.

So for those times when I won't be using my Smokedady Heavy D for supplemental smoke, I will be using my A-MAZ-N tube instead of the larger Cave Tools Pellet Tube Wood Smoker Box.

With a hot smoker, expect times for both to be less.

Hope that helps.

I would go with this one

It expands from 12"-18" gives you alot of flexibility and from Todd at A-Maze-N Smokers.

Great guy and great customer service.

I just picked up a couple of amazn tubes, do you notice a difference with them?

Do you need a fan when using them or?

i have the cave tools pellet tube too, and it's huge. ~81 cubic inches, so it's internal volume is over twice that of the a-maze-n round tube which is ~37 cubic inches.

the idea that "bigger is better" definitely fails here, because that much volume burns through pellets much faster and creates much more dense smoke, unless you have a way to control the amount of air intake to minimize or control the burn rate.

Yep. It produces smoke so dense and thick that once it gets going, you cannot even see your food immediately after opening the lid. No joke, but you have to "wait until the smoke clears" before you can even see your food.

Bigger is not better. Too much smoke from a lot of burning pellets in big tubes is bad. You want Thin Blue Smoke. The small hot burning volume of pellets in the AMNTS is far better for your foods taste. Todd runs specials and contests all the time. He has likely GIVEN AWAY more Tubes than some Copycats have sold. The Expandable is the most versatile...JJ

The expandable isn't needed imo, take a 12" only fill it half way ifyou only need that much, try filling a 6" with 12" worth of pellets :emoji_laughing:

I'd vote the AMNTs also. It has a proven track record around here.

Well I might have to disagree with too much smoke, have taken samples before hitting the required temp for tender and it was bitter, left alone it mellowed out when it was at correct temp and smoke was great, I think it gets diluted the longer it cooks and the fats/moisture washes away a lot of smoke that's bitter, YMMV

I've got 2 AMNPS and 2 AMNTS from Todd... I make dust from his pellets also.... It burns much cooler when making cheese and cold smoking stuff like bacon....
I think too much smoke makes meats etc. taste like an ashtray... Just my opinion.....
