New guy here,
I’m looking to buy my first electric smoker. I’ve decided on a 40” Masterbuilt but there are so many models and versions it is all so confusing to a simple guy like me. I don’t need any frills, colored teeth, or radio signals. I just need a basic digital electric smoker that is dependable. Do I need to avoid the 140b? Are there any gen 1 basic black boxes floating around? I need answers!! LOL

MES are a good smoker a lot of guys on here have them. I would go with the 40" as a full rack of ribs will fit without trimming them in length.

And by the way welcome to the forum.

I have a Cabelas model MES40 and love it. Doesn’t have a fancy window but does have blue tooth and a built in meat probe(which I never use either). It’s simple to use and I haven’t had any issues with it.
